i shot this in the parking garage underneath the zkm, center for art and media, in karlsruhe, germany.

main techniques i used here are:
- contrast adjusting the raw-file, saved a darker and a brighter copy as jpg
- layering the two files
- unsharp mask the upper layer
- added a layer mask to simulate a graduated neutral density filter to darken the lights
- merded down
- cropping and desaturating
- adding a vignette
- save and post

Camera: Canon EOS 350D Digital
Exposure: 13 sec (13)
Aperture: f/20
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 100

one of my flickr contacts told me that someone told him that no stream is perfect without a pic like this.
ok, now my stream is perfect!!
feels great!!
LOL
i shot this at one of the hockenheim-ring tribunes.

main techniques i used here are:
- contrast adjusting the raw-file
- layering identical files
- the upper layer was set to lighten only and a gaussian blur was added
- merded down
- cropping
- adding a vignette
- save and post

Camera: Canon EOS 350D Digital
Exposure: 0.013 sec (1/80)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 50 mm

i took this nearby my last pic + one +. i think it is some kind of water connection.
the main techniques i used here are:
- desaturating the raw-file
- saturating the same raw-file
- layering both files (converted to jpg before ;)) in ps. the desaturated on top of the desaturated
- unsharp mask the uper layer
- cut out the red knops and the copper connection
- cropping
- adding a vignette
- save and post

Camera: Canon EOS 350D Digital
Exposure: 0.033 sec (1/30)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 100

this one was taken underneath my last pic ‘x-pro‘.
the postproduction work on this was very simple. i only did some contrast adjustments, desaturating it a lot and some selective color stuff with the two crosses and the 1. ok cropping of course ;)

Camera: Canon EOS 350D Digital
Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture: f/5.6

cross processing is a term which describes the procedure of deliberately processing photographic film. but because i do not shot on film a have to simulate this cross processed look digitally. i found this tutorial which is originally done for photoshop but also works with gimp which i used. i think it worked very good…

the pic was done at the hockenheim ring race track. what you see here is the back of one of the tribunes.

if you want to get idea where i shot this one you can click here.

a few days ago i was reviewing my pics. suddenly this one caught my eye! maybe because there is so much light in it compared with the dark series i have done before?

i took this pic and tried simulating a graduated neutral density filter and a digital cross processing look! i like the result.
what do you think?
after i posted it in my stream i realized that i took this pic exactly 2 years ago with my “old” sony dsc-w12 during a habor tour in hamburg, germany.

camera: dsc-w12
exposure: 0.003 sec (1/320)
aperture: f/5.6
focal length: 7.9 mm

this one was voted as the first ever winner of the pick of the week in a flickr photo group called kris kros contacts. i was very supprised winning this contest because of so many brilliant conternders! none the less i am very happy about it ;)

i took this picture inside one of these special places i mentioned. to be honest this one was done more or less by accident, so i am sorry, but there is no interesting story behind this pic.

i shot a lot of rooms, and then i thought, “ok, lets try something with the autotimer”. i only shot one pic with the autotimer, this one you see here. back home i looked at all my pics and i thought “oh, not that bad”…
ok, it was a little overexposed. i played around with the raw-file and then i thought: “this could be cool”.
i changed the exposure compensation, added a lot of shadow contrast and suddenly the reflection in the window appeared… in photoshop i dublicated the layer, added a black radial gradient overlay in between both layers to darken the bright window. for the upper layer i used the unsharp mask and changed the layer opacity till I thought it’s ok. i used a filter called melanchytron to get this melancholic look and finally i desaturated it a lot.
that’s it!

exposure: 0.125 sec (1/ 8)

this is my favorit shot from the series done during the tour with mace2000. i love the colors and the light gradient on the flagstones. sure there was a little assit from ps and gimp but the main postproduction work was adding a lot of contrast and desaturating a little bit.

i do not want to bore someone to death with the whole series here, but if you are interested you can take a look at my flickr account to see the whole series from these special places.
